Drawings and Doodles Class with Alisa Burke 6-2-12

Last night I attended a Drawings and Doodles Class with artist Alisa Burke. She taught the entire class some techniques on how to fill the whole page of your sketch book either with drawing or with color. Normally my drawings are very detailed and sometimes colorful, but they never fill the whole page and lots of times my background stays white.

The class was three hours and I swear it did not feel that long. I wanted to continue doodling the rest of the night, but finally made my way to bed. This morning I woke up and continued with my doodling journey and my page still isn't complete, but it really is making me happy and I am savoring every moment of it.

When my page is complete there will be no white space, I am planning to fill in the background as well as my doodles with lots and lots of color!

I used a green ultra fine sharpie for drawing all the shapes and lines. The orange and yellow are Derwent Inktense pencils, and the green in the corner is a watercolor crayon.

BOD: Friday 6-1-12

Last night turned out to be a fun night. My hubby and I met up with some of his co-workers at a local brewery and hung out for a bit. I was really surprised by the beer, it was really really good. I like this beer better than others I've tried.

I taped in the business card for the brewery and also a bottle cap from Stella, Stella is good beer too. I am a picky beer drinker. I don't like dark bitter beers, but I also don't like beers that are too light.

Enough beer talk, for this page I added my journaling up in the last cloud and added a silver lining to it!

Tonight I am going to be attending an art class called doodles and drawings, Alisa Burke is the teacher. I don't anything about her or this class, but it will be my very first in person hands on art class. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. My post for Saturday will be all about this class...I might actually do a weekend page this week! This class is part of the CREATE mixed media retreat. I was going to put a link here, but it's not working for me at this moment and I am going to move on and show you my completed journal page.

BOD: Thursday 5-31-12

I added some more journaling and more silver gel pen to my page.

This is a wash cloth that I made for myself using cotton yarn. The middle part is variegated yarn and I used a tunisian crochet to make it, then I added a border with chains and single crochets.

This is my prayer flag so far, I have one more word to add and then I will do something in the background, I am also considering adding something across the top, but not sure what that might be yet.

I will be announcing the winner of my blog giveaway tonight when I get home from work. Of course it will be random so keep your fingers crossed!

This morning I worked on my journal and added clouds and some writing to my page. All I used was acrylic paint and sharpie markers...though they didn't like writing too well on the paint.

BOD: Tuesday 5-29-12

Monday I spent some time working on my prayer flag and decided it was time to show you my progress so far. I've embroidered all the fingers and the palm of the hand. I am now going to start working on the background and adding a few positive words.

This little flag will give me a good reminder of all the things that I have and want to be!

BOD: Monday 5-28-12

Yesterday (Monday), I started working on my next page, and a little while later I found out one of my co-workers had passed away from cancer. For some reason it was like this page was meant in a way to celebrate life and all the good in it. Nothing says that more to me than nature, with big tall grass and rooted trees with the sun shining through.

This page I started with blue water color crayons. Then I added green and yellow acrylic paint. Next I added the tree from a magazine cutout and painted the trunk so that it went down the whole page. Then I added some scrapbook paper that was printed like grass and then used two different green acrylic paints to paint over that like grass. Before I painted the grass I painted the little daffodils and then added some gold paint to them with a toothpick.

I was thinking of adding journal bubbles for this page again, but not sure if that will fit on this one. Tomorrow will bring new ideas for this one!
